When Should My Child Visit an Orthodontist?

If your child needs early intervention treatment, it's best to bring them in at 7 or 8 years old. The American Association of Orthodontists suggests the ideal age for your child to have any kind of treatment is 7.

Young children don't require much treatment; they might just need early guidance of teeth or an expander to ensure they have enough room for their adult teeth.

Will My 7-Year-Old Need Orthodontic Treatment?

No, most children who need orthodontic care can wait to receive it during adolescence; however, some children are best treated before they're 10 years old.

How Long Do Children Wear Braces?

The typical time frame for children to wear braces is two years.

How Often Will My Child Need to Come in?

Braces are adjusted every four to six weeks during 5 to 10-minute appointments. Jim Petras is considerate of your schedule, and there is usually no wait time.

Do Braces Come in Colors?

Yes, and there is no cost to have colored braces. Colors can be changed at each appointment, but the glue is not a pleasant taste.

How Should My Child Clean Around Their Braces?

Our patients receive a sonic-care toothbrush, and we provide one-on-one education on how to properly clean braces.
We work with most insurance companies
